Why Instagram crops your photos
Instagram posts must be between 1.91:1 landscape and 4:5 portrait. Anything taller or wider gets cropped, and Stories are always 9:16. Panoramas, screenshots and tall photos lose part of the picture.
No Crop places your whole photo inside the right frame and fills the extra space, so nothing is cut off.
Which size to pick
- 4:5 takes up the most room in the feed. It is the best choice for most posts.
- 3:4 matches the new profile grid thumbnails.
- 1:1 is the classic square.
- 9:16 is for Stories and Reels covers.
